Open Day
The open day on the 3rd of September was a great success – photos to follow soon. We had over 300 visitors, some fantastic interaction and a real buzz about the place. Here’s what happened:
Children’s Activites

From making Lego figures and structures to colouring-in and a solving our treasure treasure hunt, the kids had great fun, and they gave their ideas and thoughts about what The South will mean for them.
Guided Tours

Nearly everyone took a look round the South Parish Church to see why we are so excited about the building, both as a performance venue, and as a function room.
The Project

There was a wealth of information about the project and the church’s history, and our people were there to explain and answer everybody’s questions about the current state of the buildings, our plans going forward and the reasons why Girvan needs this venue, and the bunkhouse.
Design a Logo

Many thanks to those who entered the Logo Competition. After careful consideration, we’ve decided that we’re sticking with the one we have already.

Coffee and Cake

That was a lot of coffee, and a lot of cake!
Epic Sky Media Film
Created by Rodger Hunter and Craig Bradshaw at Epic Sky Media, it brought our plans to life in a way that we would have struggled to convey otherwise. Please watch it if you haven’t seen it.
Have Your Say

We want to work with the community on this project so asked for your suggestions, comments and feedback, from all ages. There were a variety of ways to contribute to the discussion including filling in a survey about events and functions in Girvan, to give us a better idea of what people want and need, a brainstorming wall, and suggestion sheets.
Help us

We can’t do this on our own. Funders look for us having the backing of the community. We had a wonderful response to our appeal for people to register as supporters – you can still do this online, so please sign up.
If, like us, you feel passionate about the project, there will be opportunities to volunteer in all types of ways. If you are interested, get in touch and we’ll get back to you.
Working with Others

We’re not just working alone. Our vision ties in with those of many other organisations in Girvan, some of whom will be with us on the day.
Biosphere Bikes have a plan to make Girvan a cycling hub for Southwest Scotland, and ACE, an outdoor activity provider, would both be keen to see bunkhouse accommodation in Girvan.
Tell your Friends

This project is for the people of Girvan and will only be successful if the community in Girvan is behind it, not only in the development phase, but once it is up and running.
We need as many people from Girvan and South Carrick to discover what the project is all about, and what it means to the town, so please tell your friends and family all about it, and encourage them to come too.
FILL IN A SURVEY
We need as much information about what type of events and functions the people of Girvan want. Please fill out our survey here.
